I am Mrs. Vogt your Rowland Librarian. I have been a librarian for six years five of which were spent at Hopkins Elementary and now my first here at Rowland. Before becoming a librarian I was a teacher for 13 years. Most of my teaching career was spent teaching middle school reading here in Victoria. I received my Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Houston - Victoria and have lived in Victoria my whole life. I also attended Texas A&M Commerce online to get my School Librarian Certification.
Here at Rowland each class comes to the library for forty-five minutes each week. We do a short lesson, check out books, and go to stations. Each student in first through fifth grade is allowed to check out two books each week. Kindergarten students are allowed to check out one book each week starting in January. Students who have lost books, damaged book fines, or owe books to other campuses in Victoria are not allowed to check out books until they take care of whatever they owe. During the school year the library hosts two book fairs. One is at the beginning of the year and one is at the end of the year.
If you are interested in helping in the Rowland Library or have questions or concerns about your child's library books please contact me by calling the school and asking for the library or by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org. The schools number is 788-9549.
If you are interested in helping the Rowland's Library grow their collection and honoring your child or a loved one please consider donating a book to the library through our donation website. Each book that is donated will have a special bookplate put into the book to honor your child or loved one. This would be a great way to celebrate your child's birthday or a special occasion. The donation website can be found at:
I am so excited to work with your child this year and I look forward to helping your child grow a love of reading!
