VISD Approved for Community Eligibility Provision Program, Offering Free Meals to Students for the 2023-24 School Year

Victoria Independent School District (VISD) is pleased to announce its approval for participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, a federally funded initiative aimed at providing free meals to students in eligible schools. For the 2023-24 school year, all students enrolled in VISD will have access to free breakfast and lunch during the school day.

Under the CEP program, VISD will be able to provide nutritious meals to students without charge, ensuring that every child has access to wholesome food, regardless of their economic circumstances. This initiative serves as a testament to VISD's commitment to the overall well-being and academic success of its students.

In addition to the free breakfast and lunch program, VISD is excited to continue to offer students the opportunity to purchase a la carte items, vending machine items, and extra meals, allowing them to customize their dining experience according to their preferences. Parents/guardians will need to create a Titan Family Portal account if one does not exist. Money remaining on students’ accounts from the 2022-23 school year will rollover.

To ensure continued eligibility and participation in the CEP program, parents/guardians will need to complete the Income Survey. The survey will help gather information necessary for the district to qualify for additional federal funding and maintain the program's sustainability. It is important for every family to complete the survey, regardless of their income level.

Child Nutrition Director Dana Bigham expressed her enthusiasm about the implementation of the CEP program, stating, "We are thrilled to be approved for the Community Eligibility Provision program, which allows us to provide free meals to all of our students. This initiative eliminates barriers to accessing nutritious meals and ensures that every child in our district has the fuel they need to excel academically and thrive."
