The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees is proud to announce its approval of the renaming of the court at the District Events Center in honor of the esteemed educator and coach, Jan Lahodny. This decision comes as a recognition of Coach Lahodny's unparalleled impact on the game of basketball and her profound influence on the lives of countless individuals.
Coach Jan Lahodny's legacy transcends mere statistics and accolades. Throughout her illustrious career, she has left an indelible mark on the sport of basketball in Victoria, Texas, shaping the lives of athletes and aspiring players for generations to come. With over 700 career coaching wins, Coach Lahodny stands as one of the winningest coaches in Texas basketball history, a testament to her mastery of the game and her ability to inspire greatness in her teams.
More than just a coach, Jan Lahodny has served as a mentor and role model to numerous athletes, instilling in them invaluable life lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and integrity. Her impact extends far beyond the court, as many of her players have gone on to achieve success in their academic and professional endeavors, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations.
In light of Coach Lahodny's extraordinary contributions to the sport and her community, it is only fitting that we honor her legacy by naming a basketball court in her honor. The VISD Board of Trustees approved this action item with unanimous consent, and plans for a formal naming ceremony will be scheduled soon. We invite the community to join us as we pay homage to a true legend whose impact will be felt for years to come.
